Here's what's "much more than simple words:" authoritarianism. The police internalize their position in the hierarchy and follow orders without question; that's their job; they are selected and trained for that behavior. That is the nature of all hierarchical organizations including, of course, corporations. If you care to understand more about this human behavior you could begin with Bob Altemyer's The Authoritarians (free book!).
