Notable essay:

Mark Diesendorf (Institute of Environmental Studies, Universtiy of New South Wales).
"Leaders still avoiding the big issue", The Sydney Morning Herald, 06 February 2007.

This issue they're ignoring: that low/non- carbon dioxide emitting energy generation technologies exist today and can be more widely deployed now; that it is not necessary to wait 10 to 20 years for large scale implementation of carbon dioxide capture/storage in fossil fuel power generation or improved/cleaner/safer nuclear power generation; that legislative/regulatory/financial incentives to control carbon dioxide emissions can be implemented now; and that less polluting transportation systems and technologies can be used now.
