Recent articles and essays about Iraq and Iran:

Dafna Linzer. Al-Qaeda Suspects Color White House Debate Over Iran, The Washington Post, 10 February 2007.
[very important: documents the Bush administration's unwillingness to deal constructively with Iran]

Recent essays about Iraq and Iran:

Gary Kamiya. "Bush's Iran madness", Salon.com, 06 February 2007. [very insightful]

David Ignatius. "Expect The Worst In Iraq", The Washington Post, 07 February 2007.

Andrew J. Bacevich. "Going for Broke: Endorsing the Baker report would have meant denouncing his entire foreign policy, so Bush is betting everything on the neocons’ surge", The American Conservative, 29 Jaunary 2007.

Tom Engelhardt. Over the Cliff with George and Dick?: Thelma and Louise Imperialism, TomDispatch.com, 08 February 2007.

Eric Fair. "An Iraq Interrogator's Nightmare", The Washington Post, 09 February 2007. [very important]

Phillip Carter. "There Are Four Iraq Wars: How many of them can we win?", Slate.com, 09 February 2007.

Last but not least, the best website I've seen for daily news of the Iraq war: Juan Cole's Informed Comment: Thoughts on the Middle East, History, and Religion. (This website is in stark contrast to the American news media where "Iraq news" focuses more on political maneuvering in Washington rather than reporting on actual events in Iraq. For example, for how many years was the American public unaware of the distinctions between Shia and Sunni and more generally the political makeup of the broader Middle East?)

Notable essay:

Mark Diesendorf (Institute of Environmental Studies, Universtiy of New South Wales).
"Leaders still avoiding the big issue", The Sydney Morning Herald, 06 February 2007.

This issue they're ignoring: that low/non- carbon dioxide emitting energy generation technologies exist today and can be more widely deployed now; that it is not necessary to wait 10 to 20 years for large scale implementation of carbon dioxide capture/storage in fossil fuel power generation or improved/cleaner/safer nuclear power generation; that legislative/regulatory/financial incentives to control carbon dioxide emissions can be implemented now; and that less polluting transportation systems and technologies can be used now.
Notable essay:

Chris Mooney and Alan Sokal.
"Can Washington get smart about science?", Los Angeles Times, 04 February 2007.

This entry at RealClimate: Climate science from climate scientists seems to me a good introduction to refuting global warming deniers.

Websites, etc. about global warming and the global warming deniers:

RealClimate: Climate science from climate scientists

The Discovery of Global Warming by Spencer R. Weart.

CBC News: the fifth estate - The Denial Machine a documentary broadcast in November 2006, identifies the global warming deniers; the Resources webpage of The Denial Machine also lists global warming deniers' websites. The following links (refuting the deniers) were obtained from that page.
